Odisha breaks barriers with new scholarships: Rs 9,000 for boys, Rs 10,000 for girls

Bhubaneswar, Feb 13: Chairman of 5T and Nabin Odisha, Kartik Pandian, unveiled a groundbreaking initiative today, announcing that the Odisha Government will institute a minimum scholarship amount of Rs. 9,000 for male students and Rs. 10,000 for female students annually in colleges and universities.
Pandian elaborated on the landmark Cabinet decision by the State Government regarding the Nua-O Scholarships for students enrolled in General Degree & Post-Graduate (PG) programs in State universities, government and non-government aided colleges, including aided Sanskrit colleges under the Higher Education Department. He disclosed that students eligible from SC/ST and Nirman Shramik Families will receive Rs. 10,000 (male) and Rs. 11,000 (female) per annum, speaking at the Nua-O Fest held at NC College in Jajpur.
All students are eligible for the scholarships, with the exception of those whose parents are Income Tax payees or permanent government employees. The Nua O scholarships for the current academic year will be deposited into the bank accounts of eligible students from February 20th onwards and completed by the end of the month. A Nua-O Corpus fund of Rs. 300 Crores will be established starting from the upcoming academic year. Outstanding students in academics and various co-curricular activities will receive higher amounts as scholarships from this corpus fund.
By the end of August, eligible students will receive the Nua-O Magic Smart Card, which will enable a system of additional benefits such as bus/train travel, free WiFi, access to online courses, skill development, and coaching programs based on performance and participation in various academic and extracurricular activities.
