MKCG Medical College investigates assault on first-year student

Berhampur, Feb 12: A first-year student at MKCG Medical College and Hospital reportedly suffered injuries after allegedly being assaulted by seniors.
The incident came to light following a complaint lodged by the victim's father with the Baidyanathpur police. According to the allegations, the assault occurred on the night of February 9 when the student, a resident of the medical college hostel, was escorting two senior students back after a band rehearsal. Upon his return, he was attacked by other senior students, resulting in injuries to his face and neck.
"The student has brought the matter to the attention of the medical college's anti-ragging cell. An investigation is underway, and appropriate action will be taken," stated Santosh Kumar Mishra, Principal of MKCG Medical College.
Meanwhile, the police have initiated an inquiry, recording statements from the victim and other witnesses. The victim has also undergone a medical examination.
The accused students have been summoned to the police station for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.
