Odisha shivers as cold wave deepens: Mercury dips below 10°c in multiple areas

Bhubaneswar, Jan 28: The chill tightens its grip in Odisha as temperatures plunge further, with several areas experiencing a deepening cold wave. According to the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), nine locations in the state witnessed minimum temperatures dipping below 10°C over the past 24 hours.
G Udayagiri recorded the coldest temperature at 6.4°C, with other places such as Sundargarh (7.4°C), Kirei (7.8°C), Phulbani (8.5°C), Daringbadi (8.5°C), Angul (9°C), Keonjhar (9°C), Rourkela (9.4°C), and Jharsuguda (10°C) also experiencing chilly nights.
Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, the twin cities, saw minimum temperatures at 15.1°C and 14.5°C, respectively.
The IMD predicts the continuation of the cold wave in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Deogarh, and Angul for the next two days, followed by a slight increase of 2°C-3°C in night temperatures.
Additionally, dense fog enveloped several areas in Odisha on Sunday morning, with Angul experiencing particularly thick fog, while Bhawanipatna, Baripada, and Keonjhar saw shallow to moderate fog.
