Three students killed in Nayagarh bus accident

Nayagarh, Jan 27: In a devastating incident, tragedy struck as a passenger bus, transporting students from a private tutorial, collided with a rice-laden truck on National Highway-57 near Shalabhanga forest in Nayagarh district late Friday night. Three students lost their lives in the accident while on their way to western Odisha for a picnic.
The collision occurred when the bus, carrying students from a tutorial in Daspalla, was en route to West Odisha and collided head-on with a truck loaded with rice. The late-night accident resulted in severe injuries to many passengers aboard the bus.
Prompt response from Dasapalla police, Banigochha police, and the fire services unit, along with assistance from local residents, facilitated the rescue of the seriously injured passengers. They were promptly transported to Daspalla Community Health Centre for medical attention.
Despite efforts, two students were declared dead upon arrival, while another succumbed to injuries while being rushed to Nayagarh district headquarters hospital. Authorities seized the bodies for post-mortem examination and detained the driver and helper of the truck involved in the collision.
