Wild tusker tragedy: Two women killed in Deogarh district

Deogarh, Jan 27: Tragedy struck in the Laimura forest section of Deogarh district on Friday night as two women fell victim to a wild tusker.
Surubali Kisan and Khairi Kisan lost their lives in the incident, which occurred while they were asleep in their home. The wild elephant breached the mud wall of the house and entered, catching the women off guard.
In a desperate attempt to flee from the giant animal, Surubali and Khairi ran, but their efforts were in vain. The tusker seized them with its trunk, slamming them to the ground, resulting in their immediate demise.
After the fatal attack, the elephant retreated into the forest. Forest officials arrived at the village to initiate an investigation into the tragic event.
The community was engulfed in palpable tension as locals criticized the alleged apathy of the forest department, holding it responsible for the loss of human lives and property.
