SAMALEI project launched by CM Naveen Patnaik

Sambalpur, Jan 27: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik unveiled the SAMALEI project in Sambalpur on Saturday, marking a significant milestone in temple precinct development. The SAMALEI (Samaleswari Temple Area Management and Local Economic Initiative) initiative aims to transform the temple surroundings, offering devotees a distinctive experience.
This comprehensive project encompasses the peripheral enhancement of the shrine, establishment of a heritage corridor, provision of pilgrim amenities, improved temple access, and the revitalization of the Mahanadi riverfront.
Expressing gratitude, Patnaik acknowledged those who willingly relinquished their land for the SAMALEI endeavor, emphasizing the enduring blessings of Maa Samaleswari upon Odisha's people. Despite challenges posed by the Covid outbreak, the project's completion within record time underscores its significance.
Costing Rs 200 crore and spanning approximately 40 acres, the SAMALEI project focuses on the beautification and advancement of the Maa Samaleswari temple. It aligns with several key objectives: showcasing the temple's grandeur, enhancing devotee experiences, fostering Sambalpur and Odisha's tourism-based economy, and creating local economic opportunities.
Adhering to Kalingan architectural principles, all structures and heritage gates reflect meticulous design. Khondalite stones have been meticulously utilized for paving and cladding. Additionally, the state government reports the acquisition of 20 shops and households, along with the successful rehabilitation of 250 families from the Ghungutipada Slum Area, further highlighting the project's comprehensive approach.
