SOG Jawans and maoist cadres exchange fire in Boudh

Bhubaneswar, Jan 23: Intense clash erupted between jawans of the Special Operation Group (SOG) and banned Maoist insurgents on Tuesday morning in the Nalikumpa jungles, located within the jurisdiction of Manamunda police station in Odisha's Boudh district.
As per available information, the exchange of gunfire ensued as part of a combing operation initiated by SOG jawans in the region. Acting on a credible tip-off, the SOG personnel commenced the combing operation in the Nalikuma jungles earlier in the day. Upon the approach of the jawans, the Maoists initiated gunfire, prompting the security forces to retaliate. The exchange of fire continued at the time of compiling this report.
Additionally, the jawans reportedly uncovered a Maoist hideout in the jungle, where they confiscated explosives, weapons, and various items belonging to the insurgents.
In recent months, the area has witnessed intermittent confrontations between Naxalites and security forces. A comprehensive report on the incident is awaited.
