Income Tax raids on Ghanshyam Dalmia's properties continue for the fifth day

Bhubaneswar, Jan 22: The ongoing Income Tax (I-T) raids, spanning five consecutive days, persist at various locations linked to coal trader-turned-industrialist Ghanshyam Dalmia, both within and outside Sundargarh. The full extent of movable and immovable assets unearthed will only be determined once the comprehensive raids conclude.
A confidential source reveals that numerous crucial documents and a substantial amount of cash have already been seized during the ongoing operation. The searches are actively being conducted at 12 different locations across Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and West Bengal. The simultaneous raids were initiated by ten separate teams, comprising over a hundred I-T sleuths on January 18. The crackdown comes as Ghanshyam Dalmia, also known as Bunty Dalmia, faces allegations of substantial tax evasion.
The extensive search operations, commencing in the early morning, encompass residences, business establishments, and offices associated with Ghanshyam, as well as his two brothers, Bablu and Jogesh. These locations span Rourkela, Sundargarh town, and Barpali in Odisha, along with Raigarh, Raipur, and Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh.
Ghanshyam Dalmia operates business establishments in various regions, including Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Mumbai, and Madhya Pradesh. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities delve into potential tax irregularities.
