Dense fog blankets Odisha, disrupts daily life

Bhubaneswar, Jan 19: Widespread dense fog enveloped various locations across Odisha on Friday morning, significantly diminishing visibility. The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that foggy conditions persisted in the northern and coastal regions of Odisha today, influenced by an active depression in the Bay of Bengal off the coastal Odisha region.
The thick fog disrupted normal activities, particularly impacting early commuters and schoolchildren, as public transport services were limited. The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack experienced delayed openings of shops and establishments, and driving became hazardous in the dense fog.
The weather office forecasts the continuation of foggy conditions for the next three days. The IMD has issued a warning for shallow to dense fog in 18 districts of Odisha during this period.
Meanwhile, Sundargarh, Balasore, and Keonjhar districts are anticipated to witness light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers until January 24. Residents in these areas are advised to stay informed about the weather updates and take necessary precautions.
