Commissionerate Police busts inter-state gang behind Bhubaneswar apartment robberies

Bhubaneswar, Jan 18: In a significant achievement, the Commissionerate Police have dismantled a criminal gang responsible for a spate of apartment robberies across the capital city, resulting in the arrest of two individuals.
Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Prateek Singh addressed the media on Thursday, revealing that the apprehended perpetrators were part of an inter-state gang with members hailing from Odisha, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and other regions. Over the past three to four months, this gang had carried out a series of robberies in the city, specifically targeting vacant apartments, especially those belonging to families away on outstation trips.
After a bold robbery incident in the Nayapalli area a month ago, the Commissionerate Police heightened night patrolling efforts and scrutinized CCTV footage to track down the culprits. Employing a specialized squad, the police eventually identified and arrested two members of the gang based on the CCTV evidence.
The gang had successfully looted 12 flats in five different apartment complexes spread across Chandka, Infocity, Bharatpur, and Mancheswar police station areas in the capital city.
