Chilly nights and dense fog grip Odisha; light rain predicted by IMD

Bhubaneswar, Jan 16: Over the past 24 hours, Odisha has encountered a minor uptick in temperatures, accompanied by shallow to dense fog at various locations on Tuesday. Nighttime temperatures plummeted below 10°C in merely six areas across the state.
As per the regional center of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) situated in Bhubaneswar, Kirei in Sundargarh registered the lowest temperature in the state at 8°C. Additional locations experiencing minimum temperatures below 10°C include Sundargarh (9.6°C), Koraput (9.2°C), Rourkela (9.8°C), and G Udayagiri (10°C).
Cuttack and Bhubaneswar recorded minimum temperatures of 18°C and 19.1°C, respectively.
Meanwhile, dense fog enveloped Cuttack, Nayagarh, Bolangir, and Daringbadi on Tuesday morning, while Bhawanipatna and Baripada experienced shallow to moderate fog. Similar fog conditions are anticipated across the state over the next two days.
The IMD has predicted light rain in various parts of the state on January 17 and 18. Bargarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Deogarh, and Mayurbhanj may witness light showers on January 17, with the likelihood of light rain in specific areas of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Balasore, and Bhadrak on January 18.
