Enhanced security measures implemented for Puri Srimandir Parikrama inauguration

Puri, Jan 12: In anticipation of the Puri Srimandir Parikrama inauguration on January 17, heightened security measures have been introduced throughout Puri town. Inspector General Asish Singh, addressing the media on Friday, stated, “We are ensuring foolproof security for the event, deploying 44 platoons of the police force from today until the conclusion on January 17.”
The Puri police have established a comprehensive 5-tier security arrangement for the event, which is expected to draw numerous VIPs and a multitude of devotees. Commencing on Friday with a special yagna, the event will culminate on January 17 with the inauguration by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
To ensure continuous surveillance, 135 CCTV cameras have been strategically installed across Puri town. The security personnel, led by five officials in the rank of Additional SPs, 10 DSPs, and 30 Inspectors, will be augmented by a BD team, canine squads, an anti-sabotage team, and surveillance units throughout the event.
Additionally, face-reading devices have been deployed at key locations for enhanced security purposes.
Specific security protocols have been implemented for the yagna venue on Friday evening, with further tightening scheduled for January 17. Detailed security arrangements and traffic guidelines will be disclosed to the public on January 16.
IG Singh affirmed that devotees' darshan will remain uninterrupted during these days, allowing them access to Srimandir as usual, even amid ceremonies associated with the Puri Srimandir Parikrama inauguration.
Following the conclusion of Friday's yagnas, devotees will be treated to a captivating light and sound show.
