Unidentified culprits cut open ATMs, loot lakhs in Balasore

Balasore, Jan 11: A daring heist unfolded on Wednesday night as unidentified perpetrators targeted Punjab National Bank and Axis Bank ATMs at Marsalpur and Khaira Turigodia Bazar, falling within Soro police limits in Odisha's Balasore district. The miscreants employed gas cutters to breach the ATMs, making away with a yet-to-be-determined sum of money.
In a separate incident, six assailants targeted an Axis Bank ATM in Khair Togadia Bazar, looting over Rs 20 lakh. Following the theft, the criminals detonated two bombs in the Tudigdia Bazar area.
While the exact amount pilfered from the ATMs remains undisclosed, the frequency of such criminal activities between Soro and Badapokhari has raised concerns among residents. The local community has consistently appealed to law enforcement and district authorities to establish a police outpost and intensify patrols in the region.
Promptly informed, Soro police arrived at the crime scenes, initiating a thorough investigation into the robberies. The incidents have prompted heightened vigilance and security measures in the area.
