Nayagarh MVI under scrutiny: Odisha Vigilance discovers hidden assets in extensive search

Bhubaneswar, Jan 9: On Tuesday, the Odisha Vigilance team uncovered a double-storeyed building, a single-storeyed structure, 27 plots (including 10 benami plots) in Bhubaneswar, and four benami four-wheelers, among other assets, during their investigation into properties associated with Panchanan Behera, a Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) from Nayagarh.
The assets linked to Behera and his family members include:
A double-storeyed building situated at Sailashree Vihar, Bhubaneswar, covering an area exceeding 3,000 sq ft.
A single-storeyed building located at Satya Vihar, Pandara, Bhubaneswar, with an approximate area of 2,400 sq ft.
27 benami plots, with 10 currently under verification.
In addition to the real estate holdings, Vigilance officials seized various financial assets, including bank, postal, insurance, and other deposits, the details of which are being confirmed.
The assets also encompass four benami four-wheelers, specifically Maruti Suzuki, Ford Figo, Chevrolet DSL, and Ashok Leyland pick-up, along with one two-wheeler.
The ongoing searches are still in progress, and a comprehensive report on the findings is anticipated in due course.
