BSE Odisha to harnesses AI for transparent matric exam

Cuttack, Dec 13: The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) in Odisha has opted to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the monitoring of High School Certificate (HSC) examinations in 2024. During a press conference held in Cuttack on Wednesday, BSE president Ramashis Hazra announced the examination schedule and emphasized the board's commitment to ensuring fair and transparent assessments with the assistance of AI.
Under this decision, AI-powered cameras will be strategically placed in strong rooms, District Education Officer (DEO) offices, and examination halls. A command room will have seven to eight personnel who will be responsible for overseeing the AI monitoring system. Any discrepancies detected in these locations will be promptly reported by the relevant officials.
The HSC examinations are scheduled to commence on February 20, 2024, with simultaneous conduct of the State Open School Certificate (SOSC) and Madhyama examinations. Vocational practical examinations, managed by the Odisha State Education Program Authority (OSEPA), will take place in respective schools between January 15 and 31.
In a student-friendly move, there will be no second sitting for the examinations, a decision made in consideration of potential heat waves.
