Para shuttler Pramod Bhagat meet President Droupadi Murmu

New Delhi, Dec 9: Odisha's accomplished para shuttler Pramod Bhagat, alongside fellow athletes, had a meeting with the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan as part of the program 'The President with People'. The purpose of the meeting was to establish a stronger connection with the sportspersons and recognize their significant contributions.
In the interaction with the athletes, the President commended them for bringing glory to the nation through outstanding performances on the international stage. She highlighted their exceptional achievements at the recent Asian Games and Para Asian Games, where their extraordinary efforts led to an impressive tally of 107 and 111 medals, respectively. This remarkable feat not only showcases their talent but also exemplifies their unwavering spirit.
The President emphasized that the athletes are not merely participants but ambassadors of the nation's culture, values, and the spirit of a billion people. She noted that with the upcoming Paris Olympics and Paralympics in 2024, the world's attention will turn to the athletes, and all Indians will be closely watching.
Reflecting on the meeting, Pramod Bhagat shared, "It was a wonderful meeting with the President of India, and we had a great conversation about sports and development. She also extended her best wishes for our participation in the Dubai Para International Tournament and the upcoming Paris Paralympics."
Alongside Pramod and Sukant, other athletes such as Tarun, Krishna Nagar, Nitesh Kumar, Sheetal Devi, and more were also in attendance.
