Quarterfinalists spotted in All Odisha Sub-Jr Rugby meet
Bhubaneswar: The quarterfinalists were finalized in the three-day long 8th All Odisha Sub-Junior Inter-District U-14 Touch Rugby 7’s (Boys and Girls) Tournament is going on at Bholagadia Mini Stadium Mayurbhanj, being organized by the Mayurbhanj District Rugby Football Association, the final to be held on Sunday.
All together 12 boys and 12 girls teams from across the State are taking part in the tournament. The Odisha sub-junior teams will be selected from the tournament, for the upcoming National Sub-jr Rugby championship.
The host Mayurbhanj boy’s and girl’s team will face Koraput and Balasore respectively in the quarterfinals on Sunday.
KISS, Jajapurand Keonjhar will meet Kandhamal, Balasore and Ganjam in the boys quarterfinals respectively. Similarly, in the girls quarterfinals, KISS, Kandhamal, Sambalpur will face Koraput, Ganjam and Keonjhar respectively.
“Rugby is one among the growing sports in our State as well as in our districts. We are hosting this tournament for the development of players from the grassroot level. The District Administration and Odisha Rugby Football Association extended their support for the success of the tournament”, said Mayurbhanj District Rugby Football Association (MDRFA) President Sunaram Kisku.
Among others, MDRFA secretary J Shushil Hembram, advisor Baba Dhalaram Hansdah, Similipal Sports and Athletic Association Secretary Sukendu Das, Manas Kumar Jena, Dhiren Rout and Sushant Sahoo were present.
