Odisha to experience chilly spell with shallow to moderate fog: IMD forecast

Bhubaneswar, Dec 8: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that Odisha is set to witness shallow to moderate fog over the next three days, accompanied by a decline in night temperatures by 3-5 degrees Celsius, as announced on Friday.
The weather agency anticipates light rain in specific areas, including Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Balasore, and Bhadrak, with isolated occurrences in the remaining districts until Saturday morning. Shallow to moderate fog is expected in interior districts until December 10, followed by dry weather.
In the past 24 hours, night temperatures dipped below 12 degrees Celsius, notably reaching 11.5 degrees Celsius in Koraput. There was a noticeable temperature rise in select locations in South Interior Odisha and appreciable increments in South Odisha. The Met office reported that minimum temperatures were above normal in many places in Interior Odisha and coastal Odisha, appreciably above normal in some areas, and normal elsewhere in the state.
The recent temperature surge is attributed to an overcast sky following cyclone Michuang. However, sources indicate that temperatures are likely to decrease with the onset of dry weather in the state.
