Odisha CM gives nod to Rs 104 crore instream storage project in Bargarh

Bhubaneswar, Nov 25: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday approved a proposal for the construction of an instream storage structure in Odisha's Bargarh district. The envisaged structure is slated to span the river Ang at Mandiadhip in the district, with an estimated project cost of Rs 104 crore. The Chief Minister has also sanctioned the budget for the undertaking.
Primarily benefiting the residents of Jharbandh and Paikamal blocks in the district, the project is anticipated to have a positive impact on various aspects. Beyond augmenting the groundwater level, the instream storage structure aims to address drinking water requirements and support activities such as pisciculture and cattle farming in the area.
The proposal was presented to 5T Chairman VK Pandian during his recent visit to the district, where he engaged with locals to gather insights into their challenges and suggestions for potential resolutions.
