Separate road mishaps in Odisha claim seven lives

Koraput/Sundargarh, Nov 15: Tragic events unfolded in Odisha over the past day, resulting in five fatalities and one individual critically injured in two separate road accidents.
The first incident occurred on Tuesday night when a car, carrying six individuals, veered off the Jodimadeli ghat road under Pottangi police jurisdiction in Koraput district. This unfortunate event claimed the lives of five passengers, and one person sustained severe injuries. The identities of the victims remain unknown, while the injured individual has been hospitalized at the Koraput Medical Center. Initial reports suggest that the passengers were en route from Chhattisgarh to Andhra Pradesh. Pottangi police have initiated an investigation and recovered the bodies from the scene.
In the second mishap, two individuals lost their lives in a road accident near Jharmunda under Badgaon police limits in Sundargarh district during the early hours of Wednesday. The victims, identified as Kshirod Pruseth of Jarangloi Basti and Sambaru Sahu, were fatally struck by a car while crossing the road. The car, traveling from Rourkela to Sundargarh, was involved in the accident.
After the collision, the driver attempted to escape the scene, but local residents pursued and intercepted the vehicle near Jagatgarh, Sundargarh.
