Central team likely to visit Odisha on November 2 to assess cyclone Arnab damage
Bhubaneswar, Oct 30: A central team is likely to visit Odisha on November 2 to assess the damage caused by Cyclone Arnab, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said.
During the proposed visit, the team is expected to tour cyclone-affected areas across the state and take stock of the losses suffered by people. The assessment will cover damage to houses, roads, agricultural land, public infrastructure and other essential facilities.
Cyclone Arnab brought heavy rainfall and strong winds to several districts of Odisha, resulting in widespread damage. Agricultural crops have suffered losses in several areas, while houses have been damaged or collapsed at some places. Road connectivity and other infrastructure have also been affected due to the adverse weather conditions.
The central team's visit is significant as it will undertake a detailed assessment of the damage and collect district-wise reports to determine the extent of losses. Special attention is expected to be given to agricultural damage, residential losses and disruption of essential infrastructure.
The findings of the assessment will help the state government prepare a comprehensive account of the damage and pursue financial assistance from the Centre for relief, restoration and rehabilitation measures.
The visit is expected to provide a clearer picture of the impact of the cyclone and the assistance required to support affected families and restore normalcy in the affected areas.
