BMC designates 21 exclusive sites for firecracker sales

Bhubaneswar, Nov 10: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, in collaboration with the General Administration department, has pinpointed 21 specific locations within the city for the sale of fireworks. A strict prohibition is in place, disallowing the sale of crackers at any other location apart from these designated sites.
Vendors are under directives to maintain a high standard of safety and cleanliness in the vicinity of their shops. Each shop owner must provide two dustbins along with sand and water to prevent any potential fire accidents. Monitoring of the firecracker markets will be carried out by a combined team comprising the BMC, Commissionerate Police, and the State Pollution Control Board.
Moreover, all confectionery stalls falling under the BMC's jurisdiction will undergo thorough inspections to ensure both quality and hygiene. The assessment will involve the utilization of mobile testing labs to check the standard of food.
To combat air pollution, it is recommended to purchase fireworks that have been approved and certified by the Petroleum and Explosive Safety Organization (PESO).
