Odisha Vigilance nabs Ayurvedic College Principal over wealth discrepancy

Bhubaneswar, Nov 10: Odisha Vigilance took into custody Professor (Dr) Sudarshan Behera, Principal of Government Ayurvedic College and Hospital, Bolangir, for accumulating properties valued at several crores, significantly surpassing his legitimate income.
The anti-corruption agency has identified a residential building in Sakhigopal, a double-story building in Sriramchandrapur, another building in Sorisiapada, along with 28 plots in prime Bhubaneswar and Gop areas, as well as in Pipili and Satyabadi of Puri district. Additionally, three vehicles, bank deposits, and household goods worth approximately Rs 19 lakh have been traced.
"Following an extensive search, inventory, and subsequent investigation, Behera's income, expenses, and assets were scrutinized, revealing possession of assets exceeding 113% of his known income sources," an official stated.
Vigilance authorities conducted raids at seven locations associated with Behera to unveil assets incongruous with his income, based on search warrants issued by the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.
