Karan Adani Meets CM Majhi, Discusses Expediting Major Projects in Odisha
Bhubaneswar, August 13: Adani Ports and SEZ CEO Karan Adani met Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhawan on Thursday to discuss the Adani Group’s proposed investments and ways to accelerate project implementation in the state.
The meeting focused on removing bottlenecks affecting upcoming projects, including issues related to approvals, land identification and acquisition, and other challenges at the ground level. Officials also discussed setting clear timelines for individual projects and resolving delays to facilitate faster execution.
The discussions assume significance as the Adani Group has announced several major investments in Odisha across sectors including aluminium, power, clean energy, cement and digital infrastructure. The group has proposed a large integrated aluminium project in the state, involving mining, alumina refining, aluminium production, captive power and downstream manufacturing.
In July, the Odisha government signed an MoU with Adani Enterprises and International Resources Holding for an integrated aluminium project estimated at around ₹1.08 lakh crore. The project is expected to include a 4-million-tonne-per-year alumina refinery, a 2-million-tonne aluminium smelter, a 4,000-MW captive power plant and a downstream manufacturing park.
The Adani Group has also announced investments of more than ₹33,000 crore in three projects covering digital infrastructure, thermal power and cement manufacturing. These projects are expected to strengthen Odisha’s industrial ecosystem and generate thousands of employment opportunities.
The latest meeting between Karan Adani and CM Majhi reflects the state government’s emphasis on speeding up large-scale investments and creating an investor-friendly environment. Both sides discussed measures to ensure that proposed projects move from planning to implementation within defined timelines.
The developments are expected to further strengthen Odisha’s position as a major destination for industrial investment, while supporting employment generation, infrastructure development and long-term economic growth.
