Bhubaneswar, Aug 4: In a significant recognition of Odisha's rich cultural and spiritual heritage, the wheels of the three sacred chariots used during the annual Rath Yatra in Puri will soon be installed at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. The initiative received the approval of President Droupadi Murmu following a proposal submitted by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA).

SJTA Chief Administrator Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee met President Murmu at Lok Bhavan in Bhubaneswar on Monday and formally presented the proposal. The President welcomed the initiative and approved the installation of the ceremonial chariot wheels at the presidential estate as a tribute to the centuries-old Jagannath tradition and Odisha's enduring cultural legacy.

The wheels belong to the three iconic chariots used during the world-famous Rath Yatra—Nandighosh of Lord Jagannath, Taladhwaja of Lord Balabhadra and Darpadalan of Goddess Subhadra. Every year, new chariots are constructed for the festival in keeping with age-old traditions and religious customs.

The installation of these sacred chariot wheels at Rashtrapati Bhavan is expected to showcase Odisha's timeless spiritual heritage before national and international visitors while further strengthening the cultural significance of the globally renowned Rath Yatra festival.
