Bhubaneswar, July 30: In view of the looming flood situation triggered by continuous heavy rainfall, the Khordha district administration has ordered the closure of all schools across the district until July 31 as a precautionary measure. The decision aims to ensure the safety of students and staff amid the prevailing flood-like conditions in several parts of Odisha.

The directive was issued through an urgent communication by the District Project Office, Samagra Shiksha, Khordha, to all Block Education Officers. It applies to all educational institutions, including Primary, Upper Primary, High Schools, Higher Secondary Schools, government and government-aided schools, Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAVs), and private schools. Classes will remain suspended on July 30 and 31, with schools scheduled to reopen on August 1, 2026, subject to further instructions.

School authorities have been directed to serve the Mid-Day Meal early on July 30 so students can return home safely before weather conditions worsen. While classes remain suspended, teachers and other staff members have been instructed to attend their respective schools as usual.

The administration has also prohibited teachers from availing Casual Leave (CL) for the next four days and instructed schools to keep their buildings ready for use as relief centres if required. The district administration has warned that there will be zero tolerance for any violation of these directives issued by the Collector and District Magistrate.
