Woman beaten to death by husband over family dispute in Keonjhar, accused arrested

Bhubaneswar, June 16: A tragic incident of domestic violence has come to light from Keonjhar district, where a woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband following a family dispute. The incident took place in Jamudiha village under the jurisdiction of Keonjhar Town Police Station, leaving local residents shocked and distressed.

The deceased has been identified as Rukmani Juang. Police have arrested her husband, Baid Juang, in connection with the murder and have launched a detailed investigation into the case.

According to preliminary reports, the couple had been facing frequent disagreements for some time. On Sunday, an argument between them reportedly escalated into a violent confrontation. In a fit of anger, the husband allegedly attacked Rukmani with a wooden stick, causing severe injuries.

Hearing the commotion, family members and villagers rushed to the spot and immediately shifted the injured woman to a nearby hospital for treatment. However, doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Following the incident, tension prevailed in the village as news of the death spread. On receiving information, police reached the scene, conducted a preliminary inquiry, and seized the body for post-mortem examination.

The accused was taken into custody soon after the incident. Police officials said further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the fatal assault.
