Textbooks to reach all students before summer vacation ends: Odisha Education Minister
Bhubaneswar, June 2: School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond has assured that all school students across Odisha will receive their textbooks before the end of the summer vacation, addressing concerns over delays in the distribution process ahead of the new academic session.
Speaking on the issue, the Minister acknowledged that there had been some delays in printing and supply of textbooks due to operational issues at a few printing presses. However, he emphasized that the government is taking all necessary steps to ensure that students receive their books on time.
“About 90 per cent of the textbooks have already been printed and are being distributed to students across the state. The remaining 10 per cent will also reach them before the summer vacation concludes,” Gond said.
The Minister stressed that the state government remains committed to safeguarding the academic interests of students and ensuring that their studies are not affected due to any shortage of learning materials. He said officials have been instructed to closely monitor the distribution process and expedite the delivery of the remaining textbooks.
The assurance comes amid reports from several districts regarding delays in the supply of textbooks for the 2026-27 academic year. The issue had raised concerns among parents, teachers, and students, particularly in rural areas where schools depend heavily on timely distribution of government-provided textbooks.
Gond reiterated that the government is fully aware of the situation and is working on a war footing to complete the process. He expressed confidence that all students would have the required textbooks in hand before schools resume after the summer break, ensuring a smooth start to the new academic session.
