IMD forecasts deep depression to escalate into cyclonic storm within 18 hours

Bhubaneswar, Oct 23: The Deep Depression located in the west-central Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a Cyclonic Storm within the next 18 hours, according to information provided by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Based on reports from the meteorological department, the deep depression has remained nearly stationary for the past six hours. As of 0230 hours IST on October 22nd, it was centered over the Westcentral Bay of Bengal, situated near latitude 16.4° N and longitude 86.4° E. The system is approximately 430 kilometers south of Paradip (Odisha), 590 kilometers south-southwest of Digha (West Bengal), and 740 kilometers south-southwest of Khepupara (Bangladesh).
Over the next 18 hours, this weather system is expected to strengthen into a Cyclonic Storm. It is likely to move in a northward direction until the morning of October 23rd and then shift further north-northeastwards. Ultimately, it is anticipated to make landfall along the Bangladesh coastline, specifically between Khepupara and Chittagong, on the evening of October 25th, maintaining its status as a deep depression.
