Junior Engineer arrested for alleged disproportionate assets in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Oct 19: Vigilance authorities have apprehended Prasanna Kumar Pani, a Junior Engineer serving as a Technical Consultant in the Pallahara Block Education Officer's office, due to the accumulation of properties that surpass his known sources of income.
During the investigation, Pani was discovered to possess an array of assets disproportionate to his reported income, including five buildings (comprising three multi-story structures and one apartment in Bhubaneswar), 26 land plots in prime locations across Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Pipili, Nimapara, Jankia, and Jatani, deposits totaling more than Rs. 64.18 lakh, approximately 832 grams of gold jewelry, and cash amounting to Rs. 3.33 lakh.
An official confirmed Pani's arrest and revealed that he will be presented before the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar later today.
A Vigilance team, led by six Deputy Superintendents of Police, six Inspectors, and additional personnel, executed simultaneous searches at nine locations associated with Pani, acting on search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar. The searches are being carried out in response to allegations of disproportionate asset accumulation by Pani.
