Bhubaneswar, Mar 30: BJD chief Naveen Patnaik has strongly condemned controversial remarks made by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey against his father, legendary leader Biju Patnaik. The statement has triggered a sharp political reaction in Odisha.

Expressing shock and disappointment, Naveen Patnaik criticized Dubey’s comments, calling them baseless and offensive. He remarked that such statements reflect poor judgment and advised the MP to seek professional help for making such allegations.

The controversy erupted after Dubey questioned Biju Patnaik’s role during the Sino-Indian War. Responding to the claims, Patnaik defended his father’s legacy, stating that Biju Patnaik played a significant role in supporting India’s war efforts while then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru handled the diplomatic front.

He highlighted that Biju Patnaik facilitated crucial logistical support, including allowing US aircraft to refuel in Odisha during the conflict. Naveen Patnaik also recalled how Nehru relied on Biju Patnaik’s expertise during the war, underscoring his importance at the national level.

The remarks have intensified political tensions, with BJD leaders rallying behind Biju Patnaik’s legacy.
