Cyclonic circulation over Bay of Bengal to push up Odisha temperatures

Bhubaneswar, Feb 27: A cyclonic circulation hovering over the southeast Bay of Bengal is set to drive up temperatures across Odisha in the coming days, even as the state is unlikely to witness any significant rainfall.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), both maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next three days. The absence of any major weather system over the region will keep conditions largely dry for at least a week.

However, the circulation has triggered light and scattered rainfall in some pockets. Nayagarh’s Baramula recorded 5.4 mm of rain, while Marshaghai and Derabish in Kendrapara received 5 mm and 2.5 mm respectively. Similar showers were reported from Digapahandi in Ganjam (5 mm) and Jenapur in Jajpur (2.2 mm).

Temperature variations were also observed across the state. Rourkela recorded 12.2°C, while G Udayagiri was cooler at 9.7°C. Parlakhemundi registered the highest temperature at 35°C. Weather officials expect warmer days ahead.
