Excise department cracks down on Bhubaneswar dance bars for violations
Bhubaneswar, Oct 15: The Excise Department in Bhubaneswar has issued show-cause notices to five dance bars in Cuttack Road for violating regulations.
This decision comes in response to evidence suggesting the practice of showering currency notes in these establishments. Additionally, the department is reportedly considering conducting inspections on nightclubs and pubs within the state capital.
Earlier, the Commissionerate Police carried out unannounced inspections on various bars and nightclubs in Bhubaneswar. A specialized police team conducted surprise raids in Chandrasekharpur, Patia, Cuttack Road, Mancheswar, and Infocity. These inspections revealed that several bars were operating beyond their approved hours.
According to reports, the majority of bars in Patia and Chandrasekharpur were found to be open until as late as 2:30 a.m.
