Music curfew after midnight as police issue strict guidelines for zero hour night celebrations
Bhubaneswar, Dec 29: The Bhubaneswar–Cuttack Commissionerate Police has issued stringent guidelines for Zero Hour Night celebrations on December 31, 2025, imposing a complete ban on music and sound systems after 12 midnight. The measures aim to maintain law and order, ensure public safety, and prevent noise pollution during New Year festivities.
As part of the directive, all police stations have been instructed to identify hotels, clubs and other establishments hosting New Year events. Authorities will verify permissions, assess safety arrangements and review the expected number of participants to avoid overcrowding. Roadside celebrations, public gatherings and the use of music systems on roads have been strictly prohibited.
The police have announced intensive patrolling around celebration venues, major roads and sensitive areas, with special emphasis on the safety of women and children. Strict motor vehicle checking, road blockades and breathalyser tests will be conducted to curb drunk driving and traffic violations.
To prevent untoward incidents, police posts will remain alert at event venues to handle disputes or clashes. Fifteen platoons of police force will be deployed, focusing on traffic management, surveillance and quick response teams. Zone-wise monitoring will be carried out by senior officers, including ADCPs overseeing six zones, while ACPs and Inspectors-in-Charge will be personally responsible for implementation.
The Commissionerate Police has warned of strict action for violations and urged citizens to cooperate for a safe and peaceful New Year celebration.
