Bhubaneswar to get Global Visa Application Center, ending long travel woes for Odisha residents
Bhubaneswar, Dec 15: The long-standing demand of Odisha residents for a local international visa facility has finally been fulfilled. The state government has approved the establishment of a Global Visa Application Center in Bhubaneswar, bringing major relief to applicants who earlier had to travel to cities like Kolkata, Delhi or Hyderabad for visa-related formalities.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has given formal approval for setting up the centre at the Babasaheb Ambedkar Bus Terminal Building in the Baramunda area of the state capital. As part of the initiative, the Odisha government will provide around 3,000 square feet of space to house the facility and ensure smooth operations.
The new visa application centre is expected to cater to a large number of applicants from across Odisha, including students, professionals, tourists and business travellers. By eliminating the need for inter-state travel, it will significantly reduce both time and expenses for visa applicants.
People across the state have welcomed the decision, calling it a long-overdue step. The move is also seen as strengthening Bhubaneswar’s status as a growing administrative and international service hub, while improving ease of travel for Odias aspiring to go abroad.
