Two killed in car–scooter collision on Biju Expressway in Kalahandi
Bhubaneswar, Dec 15: Two persons riding a scooter lost their lives after a speeding car collided with their vehicle near the Kebidi village junction on the Biju Expressway under Dharmagarh police station limits in Odisha’s Kalahandi district on Monday. The tragic incident has once again raised concerns over road safety on the busy expressway.
The deceased have been identified as Lingaraj Durga and Lalit Tandi, both residents of Thantgaon village in the Dharmagarh area. According to preliminary reports, the duo was travelling from their native village to Dharmagarh town on a scooter when the accident occurred.
Lingaraj Durga died on the spot due to the severe impact of the collision. Lalit Tandi sustained critical injuries and was immediately rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital at Bhawanipatna for treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to the hospital.
Following the incident, tension prevailed in the area as local residents gathered at the accident site and staged a protest. They alleged rash and negligent driving by the car driver and demanded stringent action.
