Missing youth’s body recovered after car plunges into Birupa River near Jagatpur
Bhubaneswar, Dec 4: The body of a young man who went missing after a car accident near Jagatpur’s Pandasahi area in Cuttack was recovered from the Birupa River on Thursday morning. The deceased has been identified as Udit Sahu, a resident of Lingipur under Dhauli police limits in Bhubaneswar.
The tragic incident occurred late Wednesday night when the car Udit was travelling in reportedly plunged into the Birupa River. According to preliminary reports, the vehicle lost balance and slipped off the riverbank after being guided through an unfamiliar route by Google Maps, leading it dangerously close to the water.
Immediately after the mishap, locals managed to rescue Udit’s friend Anshuman, who was also in the car. However, Udit remained untraceable despite intensive efforts by fire services personnel, scuba divers, and ODRAF teams, who launched a search operation through the night.
On Thursday morning, the search operation resumed, and rescue teams finally recovered Udit’s body from the river. Jagatpur police have seized the body and sent it to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for post-mortem examination. Further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident is underway.
