Missing lawyer found dead inside car in Mayurbhanj; police launch probe
Bhubaneswar, Nov 24: A shocking incident unfolded in Mayurbhanj district on Monday after a 42-year-old lawyer, identified as Gulesh Gochhayat, was found dead inside a locked car submerged in a pond at Silphodi Village under Jharpokharia police station limits. The discovery was made early in the morning when villagers noticed the vehicle partially visible in the water and immediately alerted the authorities.
Acting on the information, a team from the local fire brigade rushed to the spot and pulled the car out of the pond. During the rescue operation, the body of the deceased was found inside the vehicle, still locked, raising concerns about the circumstances leading to his death. Police soon arrived and identified the body as that of Gulesh Gochhayat, a resident of Bisoi and a practising lawyer.
Reports suggest that Gulesh had been missing since September 11. His family had filed a missing complaint after he failed to return home from Kharagpur, where he had gone to drop off a friend. The cause of death remains unclear, and police have initiated a detailed investigation to determine whether the incident was accidental or involved foul play. Further details are awaited.
