ITI student ends life in Keonjhar after family refuses to buy him a mobile phone
Bhubaneswar, Nov 12: In a tragic incident, an ITI student allegedly died by suicide at his maternal uncle’s house in Keonjhar district after his family reportedly refused to buy him a new mobile phone. The deceased has been identified as Sailesh Mahanta, a native of Balasore district, who was staying at Guludiposi village under Baria police station limits while pursuing his technical studies.
According to reports, Sailesh had recently requested his family to purchase a new mobile phone. However, when his demand was not fulfilled, he became upset and, in a moment of despair, allegedly hanged himself from a mango tree behind his uncle’s house on Wednesday morning using a piece of cloth.
Family members discovered him hanging and rushed him to the Bhanda Community Health Centre (CHC), where doctors declared him brought dead.
Upon receiving the information, Baria police arrived at the hospital, seized the body, and sent it for post-mortem examination. A case of unnatural death has been registered, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the tragic incident.
