Nitin Gadkari inaugurates 84th Indian Road Congress in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar, Nov 7: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Friday inaugurated the 84th session of the Indian Road Congress (IRC) in Bhubaneswar. The four-day national conference has brought together over 3,500 delegates, including engineers, scientists, academicians, and administrators from across India to deliberate on the future of the country’s road infrastructure.
Gadkari inaugurated the session by lighting the ceremonial lamp, accompanied by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and members of the IRC. Also present were Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, IRC President Prof. Manoranjan Parida, and World Road Association Vice-President Dharmananda Sarangi.
This year’s IRC focuses on the theme “Sustainable, Resilient, and Eco-Friendly Infrastructure”, highlighting innovations in green technology, urban mobility, and climate-resilient design to meet the demands of rapid urbanisation.
Odisha Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan, in his address, expressed pride in hosting the prestigious event for the sixth time, noting that the last session in Bhubaneswar was held a decade ago. He emphasised that Odisha’s thrust on durable, modern, and environment-friendly road projects aligns closely with the IRC’s mission to advance India’s transport ecosystem.
