Fresh violence erupts over boundary dispute in Khordha; Section 163 imposed to restore order
Bhubaneswar, Nov 6: Tension gripped Ostapur-Kotapala village under Baghmari police station limits in Khordha district on Thursday following fresh violence over a long-standing boundary dispute between two groups. The district administration swiftly imposed Section 163 to prevent further unrest and maintain public order.
According to reports, the confrontation, which began on Wednesday, flared up again after an argument over the installation of a village name signboard. The disagreement soon turned violent as members of both sides hurled stones, glass bottles, and other objects at each other, resulting in several injuries and damage to nearby shops and houses.
On receiving information, senior police officials, including the Khordha SP, rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control after hours of chaos. Despite police intervention, the atmosphere in the area remains tense, with security personnel deployed to avert further clashes.
Authorities have urged villagers to maintain calm and cooperate with law enforcement agencies. A detailed investigation is underway to identify those involved in the violence and restore lasting peace to the region.
