Bhubaneswar, Nov 3: In a major breakthrough, Berhampur police have arrested Uma Bisoi, the alleged mastermind behind the brutal murder of senior advocate and BJP leader Pitabash Panda. The arrest, made on Monday, marks a crucial step in unravelling the high-profile assassination case that has shaken the region.

Police sources revealed that Bisoi was not only the chief conspirator but also the one who arranged professional sharpshooters to carry out the killing. Investigations indicate that the murder was a ₹50-lakh contract job, meticulously planned and executed with the help of criminal networks.

According to reports, Bisoi managed the financial transactions and coordinated with the shooters — Kurupatti Bhuyan and Chintu Pradhan — who allegedly gunned down Panda near his Berhampur residence on October 6.

Authorities believe Bisoi acted under the influence of powerful associates, and his arrest could expose the deeper conspiracy behind the murder. Police officials stated that the interrogation of Bisoi is underway and is expected to lead to the capture of Kurupatti Bhuyan, who remains absconding.
