Class VII student dies after accidentally swallowing pin in Kandhamal, family blames school negligence
Bhubaneswar, Oct 30: In a tragic incident, a Class VII student from Daringbadi in Kandhamal district lost his life after accidentally swallowing a notice board pin. The deceased, identified as Tushar Mishra, was a student of Adarsha Vidyalaya in Dhobatota area of Phulbani.
According to reports, the incident occurred on October 15 during school hours. Tushar, who was staying with his maternal uncle in Phulbani, accidentally swallowed the pin while in class. His classmates immediately informed the teacher and staff, but the school authorities allegedly failed to take the situation seriously. Instead of rushing him for medical attention, the class teacher reportedly advised him to drink water and continue attending classes.
After returning home, Tushar informed his grandfather, who took him to Cuttack Sishu Bhawan for treatment. Although doctors managed to remove the pin, Tushar had already slipped into a coma and tragically passed away on October 26.
His family members have accused the school authorities of negligence, alleging that their delay in providing timely medical help cost Tushar his life. They have urged the district administration to conduct a thorough probe into the incident and ensure justice for the deceased student.
