Odisha Law Minister welcomes CBI probe into SI recruitment scam, calls it a step toward transparency
Bhubaneswar, Oct 23: Odisha Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan on Thursday hailed the State Government’s decision to hand over the multi-crore Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment scam to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), describing it as a decisive move to uphold transparency and accountability in the recruitment process.
Speaking to reporters, Harichandan said, “The Chief Minister has already announced a CBI probe, reflecting the government’s firm intent to ensure absolute fairness in the recruitment process. The ongoing recruitment drive will continue with the highest standards of integrity and transparency.”
He further stated that the government aims to introduce systemic reforms to ensure a clean and credible recruitment mechanism, while the commission will play a vital role in maintaining public trust. “No irregularities will be tolerated, and the CBI inquiry will strengthen people’s faith in the administration,” Harichandan added.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi had on Wednesday ordered the CBI investigation following reports of massive irregularities and corruption in the SI examination. Preliminary findings indicate that the scam may have interstate links extending to Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal, involving organized criminal networks.
