Bhubaneswar, Oct 22: A shocking incident was reported from Talabandha village under Chandbali police limits in Bhadrak district, where a man allegedly hacked his elderly parents following a heated family dispute, leaving both critically injured.

The accused has been identified as Manoj Nayak, while the victims are his parents Madhusudan Nayak and Madhuri Nayak. According to local sources, a verbal altercation over a long-standing domestic issue escalated on Wednesday, during which Manoj allegedly attacked his parents with a sharp weapon, inflicting severe injuries on them.

Villagers who heard the commotion rushed to the scene and immediately took the injured couple to Chandbali Hospital. However, as their condition worsened, both were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, where they are currently battling for life under medical supervision.

Upon receiving information, Chandbali police reached the spot, collected evidence, and launched an investigation into the gruesome assault. Preliminary findings suggest family property disputes could be the motive behind the attack. Police have initiated efforts to trace and apprehend the accused, who fled the scene after the incident.
