Bhubaneswar, Oct 17: A tragic incident occurred on Mundali Bridge in Cuttack, where a youth identified as Shaktikanta Sahu, a resident of Nayapalli in Bhubaneswar, allegedly jumped into the Mahanadi River on Friday. The shocking event has left locals and passersby stunned, prompting an immediate rescue operation by the authorities.

According to reports, Shaktikanta had parked his vehicle on the bridge before taking the drastic step. Preliminary investigations suggest that he had left home in anger following a domestic dispute. Soon after receiving information, teams from the Barang Police Station and the Odisha Fire Services rushed to the spot and launched an extensive search in the strong river currents.

Family members of the youth also reached the site and are anxiously waiting for any updates about his whereabouts. Police officials said the exact reason behind his extreme action is still under investigation. Meanwhile, rescue teams with boats and divers are continuing their efforts despite challenging water conditions. The incident has once again raised concerns over growing stress-related issues and mental health awareness.
