IMD issues yellow warning for Odisha from October 10–13; heavy rain and thunderstorms expected

Bhubaneswar, Oct 9: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow weather warning for multiple districts across Odisha from October 10 to 13, forecasting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds with speeds reaching 30–40 kmph.
According to the IMD, on October 10, heavy rain is likely at one or two places in Gajapati district, while thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are expected in districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.
For October 11, heavy to moderate rainfall is likely in Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, and Mayurbhanj, while several other districts may experience thunderstorms and lightning.
Similarly, on October 12, heavy rain may occur in Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, and Malkangiri, with gusty winds and lightning across western and coastal Odisha.
On October 13, the weather is expected to remain unstable, with Kandhamal, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Rayagada likely to witness heavy rainfall. The IMD has advised residents to stay alert, avoid open areas during lightning, and follow local weather advisories for safety.
