Police constable dies while rescuing tourists from wild boar attack at Barunei Hills

Bhubaneswar, Oct 6: In a tragic incident, a police constable lost his life while courageously rescuing five stranded tourists from a wild boar attack near Barunei Hills in Khordha district on Sunday. The constable’s bravery has been widely lauded by locals and officials alike.
According to reports, a group of tourists had visited the scenic Barunei Hills for a weekend outing when a wild boar suddenly charged at them. Caught off guard, the tourists ran for safety — some managed to climb nearby trees, while three sustained injuries in the chaos.
Upon receiving information, teams from the local police and forest department rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. During the operation, one of the police constables went missing after entering the dense forest area in search of the trapped tourists. His body was later recovered following an extensive search.
Meanwhile, five tourists who had taken shelter on trees for several hours were successfully rescued. Authorities have expressed deep grief over the constable’s death and assured that necessary safety measures will be strengthened in the area to prevent such incidents.
