Toll gate employee killed by speeding vehicle in Jharsuguda, police rescue six cattle

Bhubaneswar, Sept 11: In a tragic incident, a toll gate employee lost his life after being run over by a four-wheeler near Gobindpur toll gate on National Highway-49 under Rengali police limits in Jharsuguda district during the early hours of Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Anil Kumar Patel, a resident of Kadambini village. According to reports, Patel was on duty when a speeding Scorpio, allegedly transporting cattle illegally, knocked him down and ran over him. The impact was so severe that he died on the spot.
Soon after the accident, tension gripped the locality as fellow employees and locals gathered in protest, demanding strict action against those involved. Police teams rushed to the site, took control of the situation, and sent the body for post-mortem examination.
During the investigation, police seized the Scorpio and rescued six cattle that were being smuggled. However, the driver and other accused persons managed to escape from the scene.
A manhunt has been launched to track down the absconding suspects. Authorities assured that all efforts are being made to bring the culprits to justice.
