Chittaranjan Tripathy makes history as first Odia Director of National School of Drama
Bhubaneswar, Oct 06: Chittaranjan Tripathy, a celebrated actor-filmmaker hailing from Odisha, has been named as the new director of the National School of Drama (NSD) in New Delhi.
An official announcement confirming this appointment is scheduled to be made today. Tripathy, originally from Chandbali in Bhadrak district, has achieved the distinction of being the first Odia to assume this prestigious role.
Tripathy made his directorial debut in 2007 with the Odia film 'Dhauli Express,' in which he also showcased his acting talents. He served as the film's scriptwriter, music director, lyricist, playback singer, and producer, and it garnered three Odisha State Film Awards for its excellence.
His fame skyrocketed with his portrayal of the character 'Trivedi' in the acclaimed Sacred Games series on Netflix.
Tripathy's journey in the world of acting began when he completed a diploma in acting at NSD back in 1996, sharing the same batch with Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
